Hoodoo Poster

See assessments and solutions below.

Assessments:

  • The mounting of the poster was done with spray glue, which has left some damage to the poster.

  • With no glass to protect the poster it will remain vulnerable to damage.

  • One of the longer sides of the original frame has a broken section.

  • The original frame has no rabbet to hold the artwork to the frame properly.

  • The frame sections are not glued or adequately fastened together.

Solutions:

  • We did duplicate the original poster so it could be reprinted on canvas which would protect against damage.

  • Either original or duplicate should be remounted properly to new foam core.

  • With no glass the canvas duplicate would be less vulnerable to surface damage.

  • A rabbet could be added to hold the art properly in the frame.

  • The broken section of the frame can be stained to blend with the original finish and put at the top of the frame assembly..

  • The frame sections can be glued and joined properly.
