Curtis Chambers Canvas

What we are recommending:

The canvas supplied does not have enough background to wrap the stretcher bars without the sides being white. This white would be visible in the reveal space between the floater frame and the canvas (approximately 3/8” of space in the reveal). This would be disturbing since the floater frame is black and the background of the painting is close to black.

The best solution would be to stretch the canvas so that about 1/8” of the background would wrap around the edge of the stretcher frame. Then paint the white area on the edges of the canvas to blend with the background of the painting. This would make a much more pleasing presentation when mounted in the floater frame.

The image directly below shows the boundary of the painting background. The white Line is where we are suggesting the wrap to the sides of the stretcher bars would begin. This would preserve the artists signature and the calaphon numbers to the right.

The last image below shows how painting the sides of the stretched canvas would eliminate any white showing along the sides of the painting when mounted in the floater frame.

We need your approval to proceed.
